We no longer run scheduled workshops. Everything we do now is built around you — your dates, your pace, your pictures.
Plan a tour →Passionate about photography, Iceland En Route focuses on the diverse landscape and changeable weather and light conditions.
We also feel passionate about the multifaceted nature of our small, beautiful island and the amazing platform it offers for poetic displays. With enthusiastic photographers, our mission is to provide top quality service and guide you to enticing photogenic locations under dramatic seasonal light conditions.
We aim to preserve the value of our land and protect the vulnerable and barren nature of our precious island as we introduce you to its wondrous and sometimes concealed gems. We are eager for you to experience the best of our country and enjoy all of its gifts as well as to meet up with locals and get a little feel for the Icelandic lifestyle.
Iceland En Route specialises in landscape and travel photography, and is committed to assisting you in expressing your unique encounter through a new lens of exceptional alchemical perception of this part of our world.
A private tour is not a fixed itinerary with your name on it. We read the forecast the night before and drive towards the light. Nobody else is in the car.
Custom routes built around the season, your fitness, how early you're willing to wake, and which pictures you want to come home with.
Couples, families, two friends, or a photographer travelling alone. No strangers sharing your tripod space and no waiting for a group to move on.
Field technique, composition, long exposure, aurora, drone work and editing — one to one, at whatever level you arrive with.
Landowners, farmers, superjeep and boat operators, guides in the highlands. Fifteen years of relationships that open gates and get you there first.
Comfortable hotels and country houses chosen for their position at first and last light, and private vehicles suited to the road and the weather.
If you'd rather drive yourself, we'll plan the route, the timings and the coordinates, and stay reachable while you're out there.
These are the regions and seasons we know well enough to promise something from — Mongolia is the one we are opening now. Use them as a starting point rather than a menu — most private tours end up as a version of one of them.

In five and a half days we travelled through the entire country, seeing locations I would not have found on my own, in lighting conditions I would not have predicted.
Although the weather was not the best, Oli maximized the photographic opportunities — something I could not have done on my own, or with a less expert guide.
He did his very best to accommodate every request. Because of him, I got more outstanding photos from our four days there than we ever would have obtained on our own.
Every tour is quoted individually. The figure depends on the season, the length, the vehicle, the lodging and how many of you are travelling — so we'd rather give you a real number than a misleading one.
Dates, rough length, who's coming, and what you hope to photograph. Two lines is enough to start.
A few emails. We'll tell you honestly what your season can and cannot deliver.
Day by day route, lodging, transport and inclusions, with one revision round as standard. A deposit confirms the dates.
The plan flexes daily around forecast and conditions. That flexibility is the whole point of going private.
We take a small number of private tours each year and answer every enquiry personally, usually within two days.
